General Order of Selection Information
IDVR is in an Order of Selection as of Monday, September 9th, 2024. At this time, all disability priority categories are closed.
This means that any eligible individual without a current plan for employment (IPE) with IDVR has been placed on a waitlist.
Below are frequently asked questions to explain what an Order of Selection (OOS) is, and to answer questions you may have regarding how IDVR’s order of selection process may impact you.
What is an "Order of Selection"?
Order of Selection (OOS) is a system to prioritize IDVR customers. The Federal Government requires that VR programs use an Order of Selection when they do not have resources to serve all VR customers. An OOS means that IDVR is utilizing a waitlist system to prioritize services to customers who have been determined eligible for VR services. This means that customers are put on a waitlist until resources are available for the customer to begin working with a VR Counselor and receive services.
What does it mean when I hear the IDVR is unable to work with all individuals that apply for services?
IDVR does not have enough fiscal resources to provide services to all customers. To make sure that we can continue to provide services in the most equitable way, new customers may be placed on a waitlist until resources are available to serve them.
Is it true you are not taking applications?
No. This is not true. We are encouraging anyone interested in receiving support and services from VR to reach their employment goals to apply as soon as possible. Your application date is part of what determines your position on the waitlist. The sooner you apply for services, the sooner you will be able to receive services if you are waitlisted.
What does "put on a waitlist" mean?
OOS requires IDVR to use a waitlist to make sure that all customers who are eligible, but not able to receive services, are served based on their disability priority category and date of application. IDVR will continue to maintain periodic contact with individuals on the waitlist to see if they would like to remain on the waitlist, and to notify them of when they can begin to work with a counselor and receive services.
