Workforce Programs

Equus:

Adult Program: provides training and employment services, including career exploration, education, supportive services for work-related and training-related needs, to connect career seekers with employers for individuals that meet the program eligibility requirements for individuals seeking full-time employment. Dislocated Worker Program: education, training, and employment services are available for individuals seeking full-time employment who have been laid-off and are unlikely to return to their previous industry or occupation or have received notice of lay-off or termination at no fault of their own, individuals who are eligible or have exhausted unemployment benefit payments, working or worked for a company that closed or is closing, who are displaced homemakers that provided unpaid services to family members or reliant on another’s income but no longer supported in that fashion, or who were self-employed but experienced business downturn or failure as a result of general economic conditions in their community or as a result of a natural disaster.

Idaho Department of Labor:

Out of School Youth Program: provides education, training, and employment services to out of school youth ages 16-24 who are US citizens or eligible to work in the US, and comply with selective service registration requirements when appropriate, meet low-income requirements, and have a demonstrated need.

Local Veterans’ Employment Representatives & Disabled Veterans Outreach Programs: Veterans and eligible spouses may be eligible for employment training and job search services. Eligibility information will be determined by the local representative.

Serve Idaho: The Americorps Vista program is a full-time program that supports individuals 18+ years old in gaining professional skills while earning additional benefits. Apply online: https://americorps.gov/serve/americorps/americorps-vista#apply or contact Serve Idaho at 208-332-3578.

Unemployment Insurance: Unemployment Insurance (UI) Claims are filed online at www.labor.idaho.gov. For unemployment insurance, customers should call the UI Claims Center at 208-332-8942 for additional information or support.

Career Technical Education:

Centers for New Directions: provide services to single parents or displaced homemakers to enhance their career readiness. This program may also assist individuals entering non-traditional occupations that have less than 25% gender representation in a workplace field. These Centers offer career and educational counseling assistance, help to enroll in training programs, training in life skills, pre-employment and pre-training preparation, and supportive services to assist in reaching success in employment.

Easter Seales Goodwill Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP): provides paid on the job employment services for low-income adults over age 55. If you are interested in SCSEP and want to see if you qualify call: 208-454-8555.

Idaho Department of Health and Welfare: employment and training programs for Temporary Assistance for Families in Idaho (TAFI) and (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) SNAP recipients. TANF benefits are accessible online at the Departments website. Potential customers are given the option of applying for benefits online or by phone. Referrals are only completed by the Department of Health and Welfare staff and are available only to applicants/participants in Department programs.

Idaho Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired Vocational Rehabilitation Program: The Idaho Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired counselors specialize in providing services to blind and visually impaired individuals to obtain, maintain, regain, or advance in employment.

Veterans Administration Rehabilitation & Employment Program: Provides vocational rehabilitation services for veterans with service-connected disabilities of at least 20% from the VA and were not dishonorably discharged to obtain, maintain, or advance in employment.

Job Corps: Provides free career training and education for low-income 16–24-year-olds. The first step to enroll in Job Corps is filling out the MyJobCorps Express Interest Tool to get connected to an Admissions Representative at https://enroll.jobcorps.gov/.
