Story
Jeannette had a goal to become a Peer Support Specialist when she came to VR and was passionate about obtaining employment where she could support others as she had previously received support that helped her along her journey.
Jeannette and her VR Counselor agreed that this career option would allow her to support others with mental health challenges and would be a good fit for her needs.
Jeannette achieved excellent reviews while completing her training which helped her to build her confidence with her new skillset.
The training allowed Jeannette to grow her skills making it possible for her to transition to a healthier work environment for her needs and leave her previous line of work.
Immediately after completing the Peer Support Specialist training, she became employed with Pathways of Idaho Community Crisis Center.
Jeannette has worked hard to build up her caseload, is providing quality services, and building rapport with each of her clients.
Jeannette reports that she is grateful for the support she has received from VR and has exhibited true character and diligence to complete her training and to obtain and maintain her employment.
