Internship Program Information

Vocational Rehabilitation Internship Programs

VR welcomes student interns from Rehabilitation Counseling programs.

The Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (IDVR) Counselor Internship Programs are intended to provide a diverse group of graduate students an opportunity to participate in vocational rehabilitation activities, assignments, cases, and situations. The focus of these internships is to assist Idahoans with Disabilities to obtain or maintain employment in their community.

The duration of the internships will be a minimum of 600 hours and are offered ONLY for graduate students of accredited Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling Programs.

Acceptance into IDVR internship program does not constitute an employment relationship with the Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation or the State of Idaho.

We offer both paid and unpaid internships as determined by the agency’s business need.

The locations of both paid and unpaid internships will be determined by IDVR.

Exposure to the Vocational Rehabilitation program provides a hands-on opportunity to work with individuals with disabilities and to apply skills and techniques acquired through your coursework.

Interns will be partnered with a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor who will help mentor and work with them to provide rehabilitation services to customers and develop work opportunities for them. Interns will learn referral development, vocational assessment, eligibility determination, plan development, job-readiness training, vocational counseling, case documentation and case management.

At the time that you apply for the IDVR Counselor Intern Program, you must be enrolled in an accredited Master’s degree program in Rehabilitation Counseling. IDVR will work with you and your degree program to make this relationship successful.
