Internship Program Information
Vocational Rehabilitation Internship Programs
The Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (IDVR) offers meaningful internship opportunities for students and individuals interested in building a career in vocational rehabilitation, human services, or working with individuals with disabilities.
Our internships provide hands-on experience helping Idahoans with disabilities prepare for, obtain, and maintain employment—making a real difference in local communities.
As an IDVR intern, you’ll work with a wide range of individuals and community partners, gaining experience across multiple aspects of vocational rehabilitation.
Interns may have opportunities to:
• Work with students and youth to explore career interests, build job readiness skills, and support successful transitions from school to employment
• Support individuals with disabilities in identifying career goals, developing employment plans, and accessing services that promote independence
• Collaborate with employers to identify job opportunities, understand workforce needs, and support inclusive hiring practices
• Engage with community partners such as schools, service providers, and training programs to expand resources and opportunities for clients
• Observe and participate in counseling sessions to better understand vocational guidance and individualized service planning
• Assist with real cases by contributing to documentation and employment planning activities
Through these experiences, interns gain a well-rounded understanding of how IDVR serves individuals while building strong professional and interpersonal skills.
What We Expect from Interns
Successful interns will:
• Work collaboratively in a team environment
• Communicate professionally with staff and community partners
• Maintain consistent attendance and reliability
• Participate in training, meetings, and assigned activities
• Complete a final internship project summarizing their experience or contributions
Who Can Apply
IDVR welcomes a diverse range of applicants, including:
• Graduate students in Rehabilitation Counseling or related programs
